Everything You Need to Know About RevWood Laminate

Mohawk RevWood Select BOARDWALK COLLECTIVE BEACHWOOD

It's time to put in a new floor. Have you considered RevWood laminate? It just may be the right fit for your home renovation.

At least 54% of today's homebuyers would pay more for a house that had hardwood flooring. Compared to carpet, wood floors last longer and hold fewer allergens.

But, hardwood flooring can be expensive, easily scratched, and prone to water damage. If only there was a realistic alternative to hardwood that was more durable.

Enter RevWood laminate flooring. It's a budget-friendly alternative to hardwood that can withstand even the most active family.

Read on to learn more about this unique type of laminate flooring so you can decide what's right for your renovation.

What Is RevWood Laminate?

RevWood laminate is a special type of flooring from the Mohawk brand. It has a pressed core that's made of High Density Fiberboard (HDF). You will get the look of real wood, however the laminate top layer is what makes the flooring so durable. It is extremely scratch resistant and almost impossible to dent. Some versions even have a waterproof topcoat. Mohawk's laminate flooring, regardless of the RevWood version you are considering, is almost impossible to stain or fade!

There are three types of RevWood which we'll explore below: Mohawk RevWood, RevWood Select, and RevWood Plus. Each option has a different level of water resistance and price point.

Mohawk RevWood

Mohawk RevWood is the base product in this line of flooring. That means it's the most cost-effective option of the three types. That said, it comes with as many as 75 design options.

This type of RevWood is water-resistant, but not waterproof. If you spill something, you'll just need to wipe it up as soon as possible. It can stand up to moderate wear and tear, and if you care for it, it can last as long as you need it to.

Since it's not waterproof, it's best to avoid installing this type of RevWood in a kitchen or bathroom. But, it's the perfect choice for the living room or a bedroom. Plus, since it comes at a lower price point, it's a great flooring choice for a larger room.

If you're looking for high quality flooring to install in a bedroom or living room, this type of RevWood would be a great option. Plus, you'll get a ton of options when it comes to design.

RevWood Select

RevWood Select is the next step up in the Mohawk product line. It's made to handle minor splashes and spills, so it's more water-resistant than Mohawk RevWood. In fact, it comes with a 10 year warranty for the waterproof topcoat.

The Select line is also resistant to scratches and stains, so it can withstand almost anything you throw at it.

The laminate layer uses the Mohawk Hydroseal technology to keep water out. It also uses a glue-free locking system called UniClic that keeps water from seeping between the planks. The Select planks trap liquids on the surface, giving you time to catch spills.

The Rare Vintage design collection of RevWood Select features wider and longer planks. You'll get a sophisticated look that you'd expect from a high-end hardwood, with a finish that's twice as durable as other laminates. Choose from colors like cool gray and warm chestnut.

If you want to bring a beachy feel to your home, opt for the amazingly popular Select Boardwalk Collective line. Its colors are inspired by the warm tones of driftwood for a warm, natural feel. Many people are jumping on the rustic trend as well, because of this Mohawks best selling RevWood product is a Select line called Rare Vintage.

RevWood Plus

This flooring can handle pet messes, stand up to scratching, and keep out moisture. Whether it's everyday cleaning or a big kitchen mess, it's safe to use a wet mop to clean RevWood Plus. Make sure to not let any moisture get under your flooring and you are protected by Mohawk's waterproof warranty

The Plus line works in any room of your home, from a damp finished basement or laundry room to a kitchen or bathroom. Its waterproof layer keeps out moisture and allows for easy cleaning, while giving you the look of real hardwood. If you install this in wet areas, consider sealing your edges, we have a sealing kit available as an accessory add-on on all our RevWood Select and Plus lines.

It combines the Hydroseal layer and UniClic technology of the Select line with a unique beveled edge. This edging makes the flooring look even more like real hardwood and offers even more moisture protection.

The RevWood Plus Antique Craft collection features embossed texture for a realistic wood look. It comes in a range of 5 colors that look naturally time-worn. If you're looking for flooring that's scratch-resistant and waterproof yet still adds character to your home, consider the Antique Craft collection.

All RevWood options have locking planks that snap together for easy installation featuring the most famous Unilin Uniclic locking system, the system the other guys will pay royalties to use.

You'll need to prepare the room by removing furniture and the baseboards. Then, you'll measure and cut the tongue off the first row and start laying the floor. For a detailed installation guide click here.
