Receiving Your Flooring Order: Pick-Up or Curbside Delivery

Part of receiving your flooring order without an issue involves confirming the order is correct and knowing your delivery options. This guide will assist you in making these crucial decisions.
Confirming Your Order Upon Delivery or Pick-Up
Before you sign off on your order, whether you've chosen delivery or pick-up, it's crucial to ensure the flooring you receive matches what you ordered in terms of style, color, and quantity. Doing this helps avoid unnecessary returns, exchanges, or reorders. Here are a few key things to confirm:
- Style and Color: Check the delivered product against your order details to ensure you received the correct style and color of flooring.
- Quantity: Count the number of boxes or pallets you receive to ensure it matches the quantity you ordered.
Once you've confirmed your order is correct, it's time to focus on the delivery or pick-up process. With the rise in home-based activities in 2020, remodeling has become an increasingly popular trend. If you've decided to upgrade your flooring, it's important to prepare for receiving your order. This post will guide you through pick-up and curbside delivery, and how to best prepare for each. You can also read more about our shipping policy here.
What to Know About Pick-Up Orders
Picking up your flooring on your own allows you to save on delivery costs and also give you greater control over when you get your flooring. But it also means needing to handle your own order. Here are a few things you'll need to keep in mind when picking up your own order.
- If you've placed a large order, make sure that you have a truck or van large enough to carry one or more pallets. Don't forget to bring along supplies to secure your order in place while in transit.
- If you can fit a pallet, the warehouse will place the pallet in your vehicle with a forklift leaving you to secure it.
- If you cannot fit a pallet, you are likely to be turned away. If they donot turn you away, keep in mind warehouse would place the pallet next to your vehicle and it will be wrapped in cellophane. Be sure to bring a cutting tool to remove the cellophane and be prepared to hand load the cartons one at a time without assistance from the forklift driver.
What to Know About Delivery Orders
Whether you don't have a vehicle large enough to transport your order or want the convenience of having it delivered straight to your home, we also offer delivery orders. However, just as with pick-up orders, there are a few things you'll need to know to prepare for your curbside home delivery.
- While one of the benefits of home delivery is not having to transport your order, keep in mind that our deliveries are curbside only. Because our orders are delivered via large box trucks or semi-trucks, these vehicles are often too large to back down a driveway. For that reason, the drivers deliver the orders to the curb.
- The pallets are too heavy to be rolled up the incline of a driveway, so drivers are not supposed to move the pallets any further. Customers are then responsible for transporting their order from the curb to their home or garage.
- Occasionally, drivers may be able to drop the delivery to the top of the driveway or garage, but this is not guaranteed and cannot be expected. Delivery companies are 3rd party companies with their own rules designed to protect their drivers and minimize the risk of causing damage to the recipient's property.
- The delivery drivers will usually call to schedule your delivery day. However, sometimes deliveries are sent out before notice is made (they are supposed to call 1st, but it does not always happen). Be aware that if you are expecting an order, it may arrive without a call. Tracking your order will give you a better idea of when to expect it to arrive and we do our best to keep you informed.
Inspect The Condition Of Your Order
Unfortunately, damaged freight is something that occurs, it doesn't happen often, but it does happen. When you have damages, it is our goal to get your placements as soon as we possibly can. There are a few steps you can do to help us achieve that goal in the most efficient way possible. Whether you pick-up your order or have it delivered this is important, although damaged freight is rare on orders picked up. Further instructions on how to properly receive and inspect your order can be found here.
- Inspect your order closely for damage, if you see anything that is damaged or even might be a sign off possible damage, make sure to mark the delivery receipt as damaged when you sign it. For orders being picked up, same thing, inspect your order carefully before you sign the pick-up or delivery receipt. If you don't mark the receipt as damaged, we can't file a claim and we can't get you any replacements, please do not miss this step!
- Take pictures of the damaged product and the pallets it was shipped on. Get the pictures as soon as possible while the driver is there if possible. Even if you are picking up the order, this will help us if we need to place a claim with our vendors and/or the freight company. NOTE: Even if the driver takes photos, we will need your photos to file the claim, the driver's photos are not provided to us.
- Contact us immediately to report the damage and forward the pictures. We will handle all the paperwork and claims necessary, all you need to do is provide the detailed inspection, mark the receipt properly and give us the photos. We'll handle the rest and get your replacements out as soon as possible.
Keep an Eye on Your Order
